Terms of Service, Cancellation & Refund Policy

These terms explain how TheJobFather works, what is included in the programme, and what happens if sessions need to be changed or cancelled.

By purchasing the programme, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms.

These terms apply to services provided by:

Alex Thomas, trading as TheJobFather
Email: alex@thejobfather.co.uk
Website: www.thejobfather.co.uk

In these terms, TheJobFather, we, us and our mean Alex Thomas trading as TheJobFather. Customer means the person purchasing the programme, and Participant means the person receiving it. They may be the same person.

Where a parent, guardian or other person purchases the programme, that person remains responsible for payment. The programme is intended for the participant to engage with personally. By purchasing the programme, the customer confirms that they have read and accepted these terms.

1. The service

TheJobFather provides one-to-one employment guidance, job-search planning, CV support, interview preparation and accountability support.

The complete programme costs £395 and includes:

  • a free 15-minute introductory call;

  • a 60-minute discovery interview;

  • a personalised job-search strategy;

  • CV rewrite and support;

  • a 50-minute interview-preparation session; and

  • three 20-minute accountability check-ins.

There is no subscription or hidden programme fee.

The free introductory call takes place before purchase so both parties can discuss the participant's situation and whether the programme is suitable.

2. Programme duration and delivery

The core programme is designed to be completed within six weeks of payment and is normally delivered remotely using an agreed video-call platform.

The discovery interview, job-search strategy, CV support and accountability check-ins should be completed within those six weeks unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The 50-minute interview-preparation session may be held back if the participant does not yet have an interview. It can then be used within six months of payment. If it is not used within that period, it will normally expire without a refund.

No additional charge will apply unless the customer agrees to purchase a separate service.

3. Customer and participant responsibilities

The customer and participant are responsible for:

  • providing accurate and relevant information;

  • attending agreed sessions on time;

  • having suitable internet access and equipment;

  • completing agreed actions;

  • responding to reasonable communications; and

  • participating honestly and constructively.

TheJobFather will provide the service with reasonable care and skill.

The programme depends on active participant engagement. TheJobFather may pause or end the programme where there is repeated non-attendance, persistent non-engagement, abusive or inappropriate behaviour, important information has been withheld, or continuing the programme is no longer appropriate.

Where this happens, any refund will take account of sessions delivered and personalised work already completed.

4. No guarantee of employment

TheJobFather provides guidance, preparation and practical support but cannot guarantee:

  • an interview;

  • a job offer;

  • employment within a particular period;

  • a particular salary; or

  • acceptance onto a course, apprenticeship or training programme.

Results depend on factors including the participant's effort, applications, experience, conduct, the employment market and decisions made by third parties.

Nothing in these terms affects the customer's statutory rights.

5. CV support

The customer and participant are responsible for ensuring that information supplied for the CV is accurate and truthful.

TheJobFather may rewrite, restructure and improve the presentation of that information but will not knowingly include false qualifications, employment history, experience, responsibilities, achievements or skills.

The participant should review and approve the CV before sending it to employers or recruiters.

No guarantee is given that a CV will result in an interview or pass every applicant-tracking system.

6. Rearranging and missed sessions

At least 24 hours' notice should be given when requesting to rearrange a session.

Where sufficient notice is provided, TheJobFather will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative appointment.

With less than 24 hours' notice, or where a participant does not attend, the session may be rearranged, treated as used, or dealt with another reasonable way, depending on the circumstances.

Illness, emergencies and exceptional circumstances will be considered fairly and case by case.

If TheJobFather needs to rearrange a session, an alternative appointment will be offered as soon as reasonably possible.

If a participant arrives late, the session may still finish at the original agreed time. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without making contact may result in the session being treated as missed.

7. Cancellation during the 14-day cooling-off period

Where the programme is purchased online, by telephone or through another distance-selling method, the customer will normally have a statutory 14-day cancellation period.

To cancel, the customer should send a clear cancellation request to:

alex@thejobfather.co.uk

No particular wording is required.

The programme will not begin during this period unless the customer expressly asks for it to begin early.

8. Refunds

If the customer cancels within the 14-day cancellation period before any paid service or personalised work has begun, they will receive a full refund.

If the customer asked for the programme to begin early and then cancels during the cooling-off period, TheJobFather may deduct a fair and proportionate amount for services already provided, including sessions, preparation, job-search strategy or CV work.

After the 14-day cancellation period, a refund is not automatic. Where a customer asks to cancel, TheJobFather will consider:

  • services and sessions already provided;

  • personalised work completed;

  • unused parts of the programme; and

  • whether TheJobFather has failed to provide an agreed service.

Any refund or deduction will be fair and proportionate and will not operate as a penalty.

If TheJobFather permanently cancels the programme and cannot offer a reasonable alternative, the customer will receive a refund for any paid services that have not been provided. Approved refunds will normally be made to the original payment method without undue delay and normally within 14 days of the cancellation or refund amount being agreed.

9. Parents and other payers

Where the participant is aged 18 or over, personal information about their sessions will not automatically be shared with a parent or payer simply because that person paid for the programme.

Administrative information, such as appointment, attendance and payment information, may be shared where appropriate.

Detailed session information will only be shared where the participant agrees, sharing is necessary to provide the service, there is a legal obligation, there is a serious safeguarding concern, or another lawful basis permits or requires it.

Further information is provided in our Privacy Notice.

10. Safeguarding and scope of service

TheJobFather provides employment and career support. It is not an emergency service, mental-health crisis service, counselling or psychotherapy service, medical service, legal service or regulated financial advice service.

Where there is an immediate or serious risk of harm, TheJobFather may take reasonable and proportionate action, including contacting an appropriate service or person where lawful and necessary.

11. Programme materials and recordings

Programme materials, worksheets, guides, templates, videos and recordings are for the participant's personal use and must not be resold, republished, publicly uploaded, commercially distributed or used to create a competing commercial product.

The participant may freely use their completed CV, action plan and personal job-search documents for their own employment search.

Sessions will only be recorded with prior agreement. Any recording is for the participant's private review and must not be published, sold or redistributed.

TheJobFather will explain how recordings are stored, retained and deleted. Further information is provided in the Privacy Notice.

12. Technology

Neither party is responsible for brief interruptions caused by reasonable technical problems outside their control.

Where a substantial part of a session cannot take place because of a technical problem, both parties will make reasonable efforts to rearrange the session or complete the remaining time.

13. Complaints

Complaints should be sent to alex@thejobfather.co.uk and should include the customer's name, participant's name where different, purchase date, relevant appointment dates, details of the concern and the outcome requested.

TheJobFather aims to acknowledge complaints within five working days and provide a substantive response within 14 working days. These are service targets rather than guaranteed legal deadlines.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

TheJobFather is not responsible for decisions made by employers, recruiters, education providers or other third parties, or for losses resulting from inaccurate information supplied by the customer or participant, failure to complete agreed actions, missed deadlines or circumstances outside TheJobFather's reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms removes the customer's statutory rights or TheJobFather's responsibility to provide services with reasonable care and skill.

15. Changes to these terms

The terms applying to a purchase will be the version provided when payment is made.

TheJobFather may update these terms for future customers. Material changes will not normally be applied retrospectively unless the customer agrees or the change is legally required.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory consumer rights or legal protections available to the customer.
