Meet Alex

My route into this work wasn’t straightforward. I was told not to return to sixth form and later left university during my first year. At that point, I had very little idea what I wanted to do, so, like many young people, I simply started working.

I joined Direct Ferries in a call centre and gradually progressed into supervisory and management roles, eventually becoming European Office Manager. Along the way, I benefited from a mentor who believed in me, challenged me and gave me the occasional push when I needed it. My parents never stopped believing in me either.

In my late twenties, I returned to higher education, completed a degree and qualified as a teacher. I went on to work with young people across mainstream schools, specialist behaviour settings, pupil referral units, further education and pastoral support before spending nearly four years in education recruitment.

Those experiences taught me that capable people are often overlooked not because they lack potential, but because they need clearer direction, stronger presentation and somebody who will keep them moving forward.

That is why I created TheJobFather.

I understand what it feels like not to have everything figured out, and I also know how much can change when the right support arrives at the right time. My aim is not to choose somebody’s future for them. It is to provide honest guidance, practical structure and consistent accountability so they can take realistic steps towards it with greater confidence and independence.
